Images of my Region in China - Part Six

Part Five here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=22136&hilit=Guangxi

So, it's been a while since the last update... But that doesn't mean that I just sat around doing Gongfu every day.. Well, actually it does.. But I did find time at the end of 2014 and during the warmer months of 2015 to do some epic trips. These were all taken with my new(ish) DSLR, which was a beast to drag around but worth it. I may add in captions if I get the chance..

End of 2014:

Well, that's all until next year. With this being my last full year in China I have some more epics planned and more photos should come out of that! I hope that you all enjoyed them.. :)

Fucking epic!

You need to publish a foto book when you are done. A well done travelogue of this kind would make a great coffee table book that would sell.

Wow man, Cool!
I think I would enjoy living there, looks like a very simple life.
Thanks!

Excellent photos, they really capture the spirit of the place.

Why, you even managed to capture some blue skies - now that really IS epic!

Awesome pics... what are the main ethnic groups around where you are? I recognise the Dong tower and covered bridge, I spent Chinese New Year in a Dong village in Guizhou a few years ago, which was amazing.

Thanks, mate. That is my intention! Once I stop taking more photos..

I think that I travelled at least 20.000km last year. Probably more..

I'm pleased that you think so. Of course, I don't take photos of all the shitty things that I see (of which there are many in a country of extremes like China), but when it's beautiful here it can really take your breath away! Yes, it can be hard to get blue skies, but from May to July we can get lovely blue skies with puffy white clouds. The rest of the year is overcast or a light blue sky with no clouds or super hazy. Yunnan province has beautiful skies most of the year, though.. But my Shifu isn't there, so... :'(

There are a lot... The Zhuang, Yao, Dong, Miao, Hui etc.. We passed a lot of places like that in both Guizhou, Hunan and Guangxi, but the best (and most untouched) examples were in remote areas of Hunan. I just finished mapping out a trip to the most remote areas of southern Guizhou when I had my VPN working last week, which will be over 1500km in four days, so we should find some good stuff there as well.

Last year the toughest day of riding was in Guizhou. It took us about five hours in first gear to pass the last 100 kilometres in the wee hours of the night. That's saying something, since according to my friend's GPS we did 724km in one VERY long day a month later that seemed to pale in comparison.. 8-)

Unfortunately it's all going to Hell. I recommend that everyone that wants to see China see it while it lasts. I'm so glad that I stayed several more years to finish my Gongfu studies and adventures because I'm never moving back here.

Lovely photographs! I especially like all the children in the red motorbike/cart...

How are the roads out there? It looks like it can be pretty rough if it rains - does this make your travels difficult sometimes?

Keep on rocking!
