Anyone watch Shogun yet?

No I haven’t but I’m putting it on my watchlist. Thanks
Notice the accurate portrayal of the blacked out teeth. Poor women could only afford toxic chemicals to put on their teeth.

My favorite movie is Sanjuro, which is Yojimbo part 2.

I recommend reading a book “Daily Life in Japan” by Louis Frederic

Comparison of Shogun 80 and 2024. It's kind of a spoiler, so don't watch if you want to be completely surprised. But, I don't think it can spoil a watch. I'd watch both again.

My all time top favourite movie.

Same author as Seven Samurai. It was offered to Kurosawa, but he thought it was too controversial and didn't dare touching it. But Kobayashi loved the challenge.

Probably my second favorite Samurai movie, though probably not even on my top 20 favorite movies list.

Hard to pick a favorite Japanese samurai movie. Anything with Mifune is worth watching. The Hidden Fortress, Rashomon, the Musashi movies. But, maybe it's possible to rate them as great films or just fun watches. Harakiri is like a Shakespeare play; but I sure enjoy the Zatoichi stories.
