The "tiger returns to mountain" throw with the lean at the end was pretty decisive. Nice stuff.

Was that you?

Agree with Andy, very nice "tiger returns to mountain" throw, didn't know it could be used like that!

Hi neijia boxer,

I applaud you for going out and testing your stuff. The idea of presenting a video with form and related applications under pressure is also great but why the negative attitude?

Why don't you part from something positive, such as you using your Taiji for fighting?
Let the treehuggers alone and just do your thing.

Positive attitude+ postive actions ==> positive results.

But again, great idea and keep going at it.

This is my try at showing some Taiji under pressure by myself and my students from last year.

I'll do a new one now that I've got new footage of my students fighting under sanda rules last May and I'll try to do as you did, join form and usage.

What is the difference between tai chi and kick boxing?

That is a very clear expression of Tai Chi in combat, ends a lot of arguments bubbling away on other threads. You look like you would be a scary opponent in the ring, makes me glad to be retired from all that. Thanks for sharing.

The question is not is this an example of tai chi
Rather can some people who do tai chi fight in contests
Just like can some people who do tai chi play soccer
Yes they can
But no matter how much you day it is an example of tai chi it could be an example of any other art
Just by doing a demo of the form and saying this is what I am doing here means little
I could take a rugby match pick out a tackle show brush knee and say look he is using brush knee here
Don't put power into the form let it naturally arise from the form

I find the negative attitude as annoying as a hippy taiji new age attitude.

I keep thinking I am about to be sold something.

It's like...

"Hey, did you know most taiji people can't fight?"

Why thank you Captain Obvious! All this time I thought those old ladies in the park were all deadly assassins.

I have an idea we will get a bunch of traditional guys who just do forms and put them up against a bunch of combat sports athletes who just do sport and we could even get a representative from each style put them in a ring and see who wins. Oh no, a cage! Oh I know, an octagon!

The problem is that traditional guys dont just do forms, they get out and test their arts in their own ways.
Do the sport athletes have IP or IMA skill sets? would they be able to pass a test to see if they had any of those skill sets?

It's a joke based on opinions expressed in these recent threads.
