Taiji push -> throw

All Taiji push can be a throw if you just add in leg skill such as:

- hook,
- scoop,
- hook, scoop combo,
- scoop, hook combo, or
- ...

Your thought?

I'd call that Lieh, or split.
The form is the notes, the quan is the music

Yes, or you can bend or twist them first, so they can't step to regain their balance. You can also combine it with joint locks to pin their feet to the ground and push from there. The Chen style I learned already had those leg skills-- I'm not sure why it was taken out, other than some people might not want to practice if they're always getting thrown in the dirt.

Slanted flying ,single whip in the solo form or bend back in the San shou much better options to down an opponent
Plenty of takedowns in the yang style nothing left out
With slight adjustments there are plenty more

Don't put power into the form let it naturally arise from the form

pushes can be throws without a leg sweep/kick component... what about those? I think judo has a category called "hand throws" for example.

It's difficult to throw your opponent if his legs are free. You can "twist" your opponent's shoulders to take him down. But if you add leg "spring", you don't have to twist that hard.

Ah, thanks. This is why you usually say 3 contact points, not 2. So in higher level throwing sport competitions, it sounds like the "hand throws" don't really work. If it's mma or some other context, I guess it might be different.

Alternatively, leg sweeps can be improved by adding 'push'?

Sweep is either forward force or side way force. The backward scoop work well with push.
